Your account

You need to be at least 13 to use Octoparty. Give a real name people will recognize, keep your sign-in methods to yourself, and tell us if someone else gets into your account.

Guests can reply to an invite without an account; everything here still applies to them.

What you post

You own what you add: event details, messages, photos, My pitch and everything else. You let Octoparty store it, show it to the people you share it with, and make the copies needed to run the app (for example, resized photos and backups).

Post only what you have the right to share, and nothing illegal, hateful, harassing, sexual involving minors, or meant to deceive. We can remove content or accounts that break this.

Hosting an event

Hosts organize their own events. Octoparty is a planning tool, not the organizer: it doesn't run, supervise or check events, venues, rides or the people who come. Hosts are responsible for their event being safe and lawful, and everyone is responsible for their own choices, including getting in someone's car.

Places, weather, prices and plans that Octoparty suggests are estimates. Check them before you rely on them.

Money

Octoparty never takes, keeps or sends money. It records who paid for what and who owes whom so a group can sort it out; settling up happens between people, outside the app. Links to payment apps open those apps, which have their own terms.

Currency conversions use published reference rates and are for convenience; the amounts people agree between themselves are what count.

Texts, email and notifications

If you turn on texts, you'll get reminders and urgent updates from hosts at the number you verified. Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or turn them off in your profile's settings. Standard message and data rates may apply.

The beta

Octoparty is provided as it is, without promises that it will always work, stay the same, or keep every piece of data. Keep your own copy of anything important (Settings has Download my data). We may change or end the beta, and we'll give notice where we can.

To the extent the law allows, the operator isn't liable for indirect losses, or for losses from events, rides, purchases or arrangements between people who met or planned through Octoparty.

Ending

You can delete your account at any time from your profile's settings. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk. Money records others rely on stay, shown as a deleted user.

Changes and law

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. These terms follow the laws of Canada and of the province where the operator is based.
